Meeting of 11.10.2018
 
17 non-snowbird members heard new member Greg Straufnagel tell all...about the family, friends, and activities that are at the center of his life, and about how he became a self-employed financial advisor with Thrivent Financial.
 
President Wysopal provided summaries of the club board meeting of January 4, including a note that our 2018-19 outbound exchange student has decided to withdraw from the program, and of the joint board meeting of the club board with the members who will lead the new Healthy Youth Foundation. Wysopal, Kristen Stuenkel, Scott Bardell, Steve Klaers, and Norma Jean Falink have volunteered to constitute the board. HYF will for 501c3 purposes sponsor the 2018 Golf Classic, with club members operating the event as in the past. 
 
Announcements & reminders:
  • The next STRIVE field trip is Jan. 18, to MCTC and the St. Paul airport. Chaperones wanted. (Kristen Stuenkel) 
  • Craig plans to attend the Twin Cities Rotoract meeting on the evening of Jasn. 24 in downtown Minneapolis, and invited members to accompany him. (Craig Malm)
  • The Fridley Schools Foundation gala, for which the club is a sponsor and providing a table for 8 members, is Jan. 25. Space is available at the table; contact Peggy Flathmann. (Scott Lund) 
  • The Fridley Lions food & beverage sampling event is Feb. 16, see him for tickets. (Scott Lund) 
  • The Lee Carlson Center chili-cookoff is March 22 at Springbrook Nature Center. Recipes wanted for the club's entry. (President Wysopal)
  • The next Bikes for Kids bike giveaway will take place in April. Brian Weierke noted that 59 bikes were given away last year. (Craig Malm) 
Meeting of 11.17.2018
20 members and guests Ed Gorence, Steve Monsour, Jill Koss, and Mary Kay Delvo (a former member) enjoyed listening to Minnesota Wild broadcast personality Anthony LoPanta recount his career in broadcasting and his life with the Wild.
 
President Wysopal awarded Josh Lund his first Paul Harris honor.
 
Craig Malm passed out copies of the 2018 Golf Classic brochure and asked for any additional amendments.

Meeting of 11.24.2018
 
16 members attended the January 24 breakfast and heard new member Katie Johnson, of Talecris Plasma Resources in Fridley, review her career to date: 13 years at Kindercare and a year at Talecris. She also talked about her family and its activities and her large circle of neighbors and friends. 
 
Patty Halvorson announced that Greg Schraufnagel has agreed to serve as chili chef fo the club's entry in the Lee Carlson Center Chili Cook Off on March 22. 
 
Zac Hoang reported that the STRIVE student visit to Minneapolis community and technical College last week went well. 
 
Scott Lund issued a reminder of the Fridley Lions Winter warm Up on Feb. 16 at Banquets of Minnesota.
 
Craig Malm reported that the Golf Classic brochure is in final form and will be distributed to members.
 
President Wysopal issued a reminder of the club business session next week in preparation for  recruitment of sponsors for the Golf Classic.
