17 members, Columbia Heights High School STRIVE coordinator Scott Roehm and Columbia Heights STRIVE students Brian Purral Julingas, Sheila Marie Ramon, and Marcos Najera heard Dr. Stephen Menya, a native of Kenya, describe his efforts to fund a hospital facility for children in his native land.
 
REMINDERS:
The club has donated funding for the Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts Student Art Exhibition, which continues through March 9. The Center also seeks volunteers during the exhibition. Contact Director Jeff Ebeling at jeffrey@banfill-locke.org.
 
The Lee Carlson Center Chili Cookoff will take place on this Friday evening March 1 from 5:30-8:30 at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 6300 Earle Brown Drive, Brooklyn Center, reflecting LCC's expansion to that Hennepin County community. The "Taste of Fridley" a fundraiser for the spring Fridley Middle School East Coast trip, will be held on Friday, March 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Banquets of MN in Fridley. $25 at the door, $20 in advance.
