22 members, Columbia Heights High School STRIVE faculty adviser Scott Roehm, and Columbia Heights High School STRIVE students Hanni Hussein, Fadimo Bargadie, Sahaam Ahmed, Mubarak Hassan, and Abdirizak Hassan heard new member Don Archibeque reveal his meandering career path and tell about his family, hobbies, and path to Rotary, with Power Point slides.

Amada Simula announced that the Columbia Heights Lions will host “Till Death Do Us Part”, a Murder Mystery Party on January 12 at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill Street, Columbia Heights, from 5 to 8 pm. STRIVE’s next field trip, to Anoka Tech and Anoka Ramsey Community College is set for Friday, Jan. 31. Rotarians are welcome to accompany the students and their faculty advisors and mentors.
 
The board approved the purchase of a table for 10 at the Alexandra House Gala, to be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on March 28 at Leopold’s Mississippi Gardens, 9500 W River Rd, Minneapolis, MN 55444. REMINDERS:
Klaers also announced that STRIVE students will help Kids In Need take inventory at its Roseville distribution center, 2719 Patton Rd, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14. Rotarians are invited to show up and assist.
 
Amada Simula announced that HeightsNEXT community organization, which the club supports, will hold its annual Pet-Bed making day on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Columbia Heights Public Library, 3939 Central Avenue, from noon to 3 p.m.
The District 5960 Midterm and Social, a free event, will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 at Anderson Center, Hamline University, 774 Snelling Ave. N, St. Paul.
 
The District 5960 2020 Conference of Clubs will take place April 30-May 1 at the Mystic Lake Event Center, Prior Lake.
