PROGRAM

13 members and guests Jim Cummings, STRIVE coordinator at Fridley High School, and Fridley STRIVE students Nya Walker and Olivia Curtis heard Katie Shutarsky, director of ThumbsUp, a non-profit mental health services organization, describe its work. Thumbs Up, founded by Shutarsky in 2014, focuses its services on educating about and raising awareness of the mental health issues underlying the increasing problem of suicide among both adolescents and adults. Several of its programs focus on adolescents by offering support through area schools, while others reach out to the families of suicides.

Fridley Schools Foundation Black & Gold Gala: $400 (through the Healthy Youth Foundation)
