15 members heard and watched on Zoom as Capt. Ron Powers, 367th Engineering Battalion, U. S. Army Reserve, described his service as a chaplain deployed to the Middle East in late 2019 and early 2020. Chaplain Powers discussed the situation and characteristics of the Kurds of the region, whose longtime predicament as a minority ethnic group divided among Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Syria is one of the most persistent issues in international relations in the area, and showed photos illustrating the conditions under which chaplains serve.
