PROGRAM
 
20 members and visiting Rotarian David Hoel of New Brighton – Mounds View Rotary heard Kayla Thomas and Kaycee Stanley of the Reel Hope Project describe the agency's mission. Contracting with The Minnesota Department of Human Services, RHP creates videos of the 1000+ foster children in Minnesota as an aid to helping them find “forever” families through adoption. Hoel, an adopted child, spontaneously donated $100, and the club board will consider a donation.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
Steve Klaers announced that the first STRIVE lunch for students and mentors will take place on Tuesday, October 18, at Fridley High School. Mentors for the STRIVE students are sought. Contact Klaers at 612-599-8103.  
 
Vern Hoium noted that the Columbia Heights High School Alumni Scholarship Foundation will hold its annual banquet and fundraiser on Thursday evening, October 28, at Jax in Minneapolis.

President Kim Hiel reminded that this past week she emailed to members this year’s Rotary Visioning Survey. Please respond!
 
Student dictionaries will be distributed today to 3rd graders at Stevenson and Hayes Elementary schools, as well as Woodcrest Baptist Academy, in Fridley. Thanks to the several volunteers who have signed up to participate.
 
District 5960 Rotarians are invited to attend its One Summit on Saturday, October 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 at the Family Means Center, 1875 Northwestern Avenue So. in Stillwater, and opportunity to share information about Membership, Public Image, DEI, and The Rotary Foundation. The annual Charter Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, at Banquets of Minnesota in Fridley, and will feature Rotary District 5960 Governor Dayna Quigley and after-dinner musical entertainment. Doors open at 5:30, dinner at 7; cost, $40.00. Members can sign up at a breakfast or contact social committee Scott Lund at scott.lund@comcast.net.
