20 members, including 7 Zoomers, heard forensic geologist and author Scott F. Wolter explain his research and conclusions about the Kensington Runestone, notoriously disputed as evidence of Viking penetration in the 14th century into what is now Minnesota since it was dug up near Alexandria in 1898. A believer that it is genuine, Wolter explains its presence and inscribed message in the context of the medieval Knights Templar and Freemasonry.

Golf Classic summary: Devoted this year to COVID relief, 72 golfers helped raise over $12,000.00 for SteppingStone Emergency Shelter, Hope 4 Youth, and SACA, enjoying sunny, mid-70s weather at The Refuge Golf Club on August 31. Major sponsors were Gold Star Mortgage Financial Group, RAO Manufacturing, Marsh & McLennan Agency, Financial One Credit Union, and the Fridley Lions Club. Thanks to Greg Schraufnagel for again ably heading up the event, and to all volunteers.
The club board approved purchase of a laptop to use at the breakfasts, and contributions to Columbia Heights's centennial celebration in 2021.
District Governor Ed Marek of St. Paul is not available to attend next week's breakfast as scheduled. The club instead will welcome new member Ed Higgins by introducing ourselves individually and remarking on why we are Rotarians.
