15 members and former member Dick Harris heard speakers Bob Freed of Arden Hills-Shoreview Rotary and Gummadi Franklin describe the work of PUSHPA, a private charitable institution which operates schools in Andrha Pradesh State in India, teaching sewing skills to girls to increase their economic opportunities. It has graduated 250 to 300 girls in its 11 years of operation. It has received local support from First Lutheran Church of Columbia Heights. Arden Hills-Shoreview Rotary has launched a Rotary District Grant program to raise funds to allow PUSHPA to expand its operations.

Brian Weierke requested approval of a $500 donation to Hopefest, an Alexandra House fundraiser scheduled for September. The club approved by voice vote.
 
Eight or nine golfers will for the first time since 2013 contest a club championship tomorrow, August 30, at Bunkers Hills Golf Club.
 
The Dictionary Project, approved last week, does not yet have a date set for distribution. Dictionaries have been ordered.
 
Lund showed videos advertising the End Polio Now gala scheduled for September 21 at the Metropolitan Ballroom in St. Louis Park.
